Salon Policies
Thank you trusting us with the care of your pet(s). We understand how important your pet’s happiness and well-being is to you! Please take some time to look over our policies to ensure the health and safety of your pet(s) while in our care.
BOOKINGS:
-
All new clients must provide a valid credit card to book a grooming appointment with The Dawg House Grooming Salon. Your credit card will reserve your appointment.
-
All clients must review and sign the Dawg House Client Agreement prior to receiving services.
-
All clients must provide proof of their pet’s up-to-date Rabies and Distemper Parvo, preferably 48 hours prior to their appointment. If you present vaccine records in person and vaccinations are not current, we will not be able to groom your pet, which will incur a fee of a same-day cancellation (100 percent of scheduled groom).
NO SHOWS & CANCELLATIONS:
-
No shows, last minute cancellations (less than 24 hours notice) or continual re-scheduling are subject to 100 percent of services booked per pet, which will be charged to a card on file or added to your next ticket in addition to the price of the groom.
-
If you call to cancel/reschedule and do not leave a message you will be charged to the card on file.
We can only take a limited number of appointments each day. A missed appointment is a loss of income to both our small business and our groomers. You may be required to pre-pay in order to reserve another appointment if cancellations or rescheduling are an on-going issue. We understand there may be emergency situations and we will do our best to work with you. Please be respectful of our time as we are an appointment based business.
REMINDER:
The Dawg House opens at 9:00am - if you need to drop off earlier than 9:00 you will need to make these arrangements prior to the day of your appointment.
LATE ARRIVALS:
If you’re over 15 minutes late to your appointment, a $15 late fee will be added to your groom (unless prior arrangements were made).
LATE PICK-UPS:
Unless previous arrangements have been made, pet's must be picked up within an hour after completion of groom, or an $18 day boarding fee will be added to the cost of the groom. Pick-up's must be completed by 5 pm to avoid a fee of $15 for every 15 minutes past closing. If you're requesting a late pick-up, please speak with our receptionist for arrangements.
MAT REMOVAL:
Pets with matted coats need extra attention during their grooming session. Mats left in a pet’s coat only grow tighter and can strangle the pet’s skin and can lead to further medical issues. Our goal is not to cause undue stress to your pet and since mats can be very difficult to remove, it may be necessary to shave your pet. Removing a heavily matted coat includes risks of nicks, cuts or abrasions due to warts, moles, or skin folds trapped in the mats. Heavy matting can also trap moisture and urine near the pet’s skin, allowing mold, fungus, or bacteria to grow causing skin irritations that existed prior to the grooming process. Ulcerated skin from mats can also harbor maggots. After effects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions and failure of the hair to re-grow. Shaved pets are also prone to sunburn and should either have sunscreen applied daily or should be kept out of the sun until the hair grows sufficiently to protect the skin. In some cases, pets may also exhibit brief behavioral changes. Prevention is the best defense against matting by scheduling regular grooming appointments as well as regular brushing of your pet. We are happy to advise further on mat prevention during your pet’s appointment. Additionally, we also offer a brush out service, which can help avoid matting in between grooming.
PUPPY'S FIRST HAIRCUT:
The first grooming experience for a puppy (or any age dog) requires patience and understanding. Be aware that more time may be necessary to work with younger pets. Gradually adding steps to the grooming process on a regular basis will help to minimize any potential stress. Owners can help their pets to better accept the grooms by regularly massaging the pet’s paws as well as brushing and combing their coats. Frequent handling of paws can help pets better accept nail clipping and trimming around the feet. Puppies should have completed all applicable vaccinations prior to their first groom.
GROOMING PREFERENCES:
Since grooming is a matter of personal preference, please spend a few minutes with the groomer to discuss your pet's grooming history and your preferences.
